May 31

SUN! We have sun! Thank you God for allowing the sun to shine today.

Oh...the beautiful blossoms on the strawberries. The rain has been very good to them. I can't wait to see the fruit they have.

The first fruits of the tomatoes are starting to show...

So are the peppers.

The rain has been very good for the many kinds of beans. They are coming up nicely.

Frost advisory...thanks to Sarah for your help in covering everything. Please lord, let the plants that are not protected survive the chill tonight.

Covers over strawberries and tomatoes, peppers and eggplant.
Even the blueberries needed a cover!

May 22

Let's save some rain for another month please!
Today the predicted weather for tomorrow night is 35 degrees. I know that isn't freezing but after last time and the cold pockets of air we usually have, it is too close to take any chances. So, today I went over to Jordan's seeds to get a 500 ' x 14' frost row cover. We will more than likely be cutting it in pieces to fit our needs but everything will need to be covered. And since that is not enough I will be bringing out all the blankets in the house again...wow what a spring!!!

Please join me in sending up a pleading prayer for no frost, tomatoes and peppers can not take this cold!
Thank you God for your wonderful soil to work and play in. I pray you bless the CSA members with your fruitfulness and many provisions. Thank you for the knowledge and desire to plant and share your blessings. Amen.

May 14

The tilling is done and now it is time to plant. Beans, fennel, Choy, dill, tomatoes, cucumbers, celery. Lord, I pray that you give life to your garden, breathe a renewal of energy into the plants and protect them from heat and cold. Father, I specifically pray for warmer weather for next Tuesday, nothing below 40 would be really nice? Thank you for a very productive day, amen.

Tilling up ground for potatoes to be planted. I think about 35-40lbs of potatoes when in. May God bless them and bring forth beautiful potatoes to be shared by all.

Planting today

With the help of April and Alex and Eli of course...peppers, garlic, shallots, lettuce, quinoa (something new I'm trying this year and I don't know if it will grow here), and a few tomatoes are in the ground. Thank you, Jesus, for a very productive day.

Boys and their worms!

April helps to plant the peppers and puts protective pails (the bottoms are cut out of them) around them to help with the wind and to keep them warmer.

Eli counting the garlic bulbs saying ah...ah...ahhh after each one.

Trying something new...to get tomatoes a little faster than normal...covering them with a small poly tunnel to keep the heat in...but on the sunny days it is way too hot in there.

Peppers and lettuce heads are planted.

Our First Week in the Garden

It began with 6.5 inches of snow falling, melting, warming up, drying out and planting began but who was to know it would end in 9 more inches...
